Our goal is to provide pricing transparency. The pricing information on this website is only an estimate. Actual costs may vary for each patient due to unforeseen complications, the number of tests or procedures performed, and additional non-hospital-related charges, all of which may affect the final cost. Prospective patients should be aware that their final bill for services at Meridian Hospital may differ from the estimates provided here.

What is Pricing Transparency?

Hospitals are required to publicly share a list of their standard charges for items and services online. Additionally, they must provide a searchable, consumer-friendly display of common “shoppable services” to assist consumers in estimating costs and making more informed healthcare decisions.

Standard Charges

Meridian Hospital is required to make available a Standard Charge File for consumers to review that includes the five different types of charges defined below.

  1. Gross Charge: The total price listed on a hospital’s chargemaster. Gross charges may differ between hospitals for the same procedure or service due to factors such as location, the types of services the facility offers, and the level of expertise needed to provide the care.
  2. Discounted Cash Price: The price offered to patients who pay on their own without third-party insurance coverage.
  3. Payer-Specific Negotiated Charge: The charge a hospital has negotiated with a third-party payer for an item or service, which can vary based on your coverage and specific plan. You’ll sometimes see this referred to as the “allowed amount” on an insurer’s Explanation of Benefits.
  4. De-identified Minimum Negotiated Charge: The lowest charge a hospital has negotiated for an item or service across all insurers.

De-identified Maximum Negotiated Charge: The highest charge a hospital has negotiated for an item or service across all insurers.

Standard Charge File Notes 

  • Meridian Hospital is not in-network with any third-party insurers and does not have payer-specific negotiated charges, de-identified minimum or maximum negotiated charges.
  • The hospital offers discounted bundled cash pay prices rather than individual procedure-based discounts.
  • Listed hospital charges do not account for patient-specific insurance deductibles, copayments, self-pay discounts, or financial assistance programs, and therefore do not reflect the actual patient responsibility.
  • Reimbursement for services varies based on several factors, including: 
    • 1) Length of stay
    • 2) Severity of illness
    • 3) Additional services or items provided (e.g., medications, implants)
    • 4) Overall cost of care
  • Pricing does not include charges for physician services or other ancillary professional services that may be provided during your visit.
  • Some services listed in this file may not currently be available at the hospital.
  • If you have insurance coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your patient payment obligations under your plan.

Shoppable Service Cost Estimates

Hospitals are required to provide a consumer-friendly display of common “shoppable services” to help you estimate costs for specific procedures, empowering you to make informed healthcare decisions. CMS aims to make it easier for you to compare prices and schedule services at your convenience.

We fully support efforts to enhance healthcare price transparency and provide cost estimates to guide your decision-making. However, please note that these are ESTIMATES ONLY. If you choose to proceed with a service at our hospital, you may receive an updated estimate with more precise cost details and out-of-pocket expenses.
